Lead Canopy Tour Guide
$15/hr

Responsible for canopy tour gear organization, maintenance, set up, take down, & tour operation.  Post trip paperwork and basic computer skills is necessary.  Must be over 21 years old and check email and phone messages daily.  The ability to train, mentor, and documentation staff team skills.  Responsible for leading team meetings including safety improvement sessions and customer service continuous satisfaction.  Must have the ability to climb 100 feet in a redwood tree, be able to lift 40 pounds above your head, and be calm presence under pressure.
 
CPR and First Aid required Wilderness First Aid/Responder preferred 
Preferred past experience as a canopy tour guide or training/experience as a ropes course manager 

Gear required for employment: harness, helmet, belay device, lobster claws, pulley, & appropriate outdoor clothing.

The program is scheduled from:
October 3-5: Outdoor Education trainer training (Camp Surf [day 1] /Stevens/Alexander Dawson), 1/2 days
October 6: Teacher/Trainer appetizers and drinks, hosted by Dawson, evening
October 8: Teacher Training (at Dawson), 1/2 day
October 9: On Campus Pre-Retreat Program (at Dawson), 1/2 day
October 10-13: 6th Grade "Organic" Retreat Camp Stevens (Ramona, CA)
October 13: Teacher Training (at Dawson), 1/2 day
October 15: On Campus Pre-Retreat Program (at Dawson), 1/2 day
October 16-19: 7th Grade "Medical" Retreat Camp Surf  (San Diego, CA)
October 22-23: School Program at Dawson or Red Rocks (Las Vegas, NV)
 
Breakdown of working days
3 Training
1 Pre-Program
5 Program, 8th Camp Surf
5  Program, 7th Camp Stevens
2 Red Rocks Post Program
16 staff total days
 
Compensation will be $155/day for 16 days total, totaling $2480.  Travel reimbursement will be $500 (Staff team car pool highly recommended between locations).  There is a $500 bonus given to you upon successful completion of the program.   Total compensation package is $3480 for 16 days of work.

Ropes Course Facilitator Level I, Site Specific Certification (NCAC courses: Arcata, Crescent City, and Del Loma)

May 17-18, 5pm-9pm at Far North Climbing Gym
May 19 -20, 9-5 daily at the Arcata Ropes Course
May 26-27, 9-5 daily at the Arcata Ropes Course
