Wilderness & Remote First Aid - 2010-09-18

Successful completion of this course will lead to an American Red Cross certification in Wilderness and Remote First Aid. This course which prepares you with the skills necessary to respond to emergencies in situations when professional help may be delayed or unavailable. This course is especially designed to meet the needs of outdoor enthusiasts, people working in remote environments and leaders of youth groups in outdoor pursuits.
The course covers
- Initial and Secondary Patient Assessment
- Head (Brain), Neck & Spinal Injuries
- Hypothermia and Heat Related Emergencies
- Allergies and Anaphylaxis
- Bone and Joint Injuries
- Burns, Wounds and Wound Infection
- Chest and Abdominal Injuries
- Altitude Related Illnesses
- Submersion (Drowning) Incidents
- Emergency Evacuations
This course meets the Boy Scouts of America wilderness first aid requirements. Possession of a valid CPR certificate is a requirement for receiving a Wilderness and Remote First Aid certificate. If you require CPR certification/re-certification we will offer a CPR class on Saturday evening at additional cost of $20.
