Redwood Region Eco-tour

Join us for a ecological and natural history tour of the North Coast

California's North Coast is one of the wildest and most beautiful areas of the state.  Our region boasts virtually all of the publicly-owned old-growth redwoods as well as a bounty of easily-observed wildlife in a diversity of habitats ranging from forest and prairie to marsh and beach.  This tour will sample a variety of habitats and cover the basic elements of their ecology including ecosystem processes, representative species, and conservation issues.  We will adjust the tour to the wishes and abilities of the group.

Lead Guide Ken Burton*.  Ken is a professional wildlife biologist, tour guide, and educator with over 20 years' experience in the field.  He has traveled to every continent and considers California's North Coast one of the best places on earth.  He has served as President of the local Audubon Society chapter as well as spearheaded a restoration project at the Arcata Marsh and Wildlife Sanctuary.  As a naturalist, he especially enjoys challenging people's preconceptions about their place in the world.  *Ken himself may or may not be available, in which case another qualified guide will lead the tour.

Remember, you can book an eco-tour in conjunction with one of our adventure tours.  For example, combine a Redwood Region Eco-tour with a Redwood Canopy Tour.  You will learn about the redwood ecosystem and its plants, animals, and human neighbors before, during, and after your 70-foot climb, zip, and lower in our 100+-year-old redwood.  Other adventure combinations are available, too.
