Share the Air and help Teach tourist and locals about Redwoods, 70 Feet in the Canopy

Canopy Tour Guide Level 1

Canopy tours now available in most regions of the US and the World. This fast growing industry requires trained guides.  This North Coast Adventure Centers canopy guide training will cover the key aspects of guiding clients safely. We will teach you how to prepare the client for the experience including various ways of teaching a ground school. We will review the fundamentals of both your personal safety and the client’s safety including gear inspection, proper wearing of helmets and harnesses, belay techniques, safety commands. You will learn proper zip line sequencing, pre-zip safety checks, pulley attachment and placement, braking techniques and proper communications between guides.   Note this course does not include rescue techniques.

Canopy Tour Guide Level 2

This training builds off of the basic skills learned in the Canopy Tour Guide Level 1 course.  You will learn course inspection requirements, rescue techniques, risk management and how to properly manage other guides.  We will focus on technical skills including, leading edge climbing, tree wrap climbing, acceptable life safety anchors, self belaying, rappelling, ground anchors, vector pulls and belay escapes. Then you will learn how and when to put these techniques to use to rescue the “stuck participant”. In the process you will discover some of the ways a participant can become stuck and how to avoid these situations.  A key element in safety and ensuring the clients satisfaction is communications amongst guides and particularly with the lead guide.  We will teach you ways to improve communications and how to lead a team.
