Rock Gym & Portable Wall Manager

Leading in the Gym and at Outdoor Events

This course is designed to prepare you to work in a rock climbing gym.  You will learn all aspects of gym management and operations including: Customer service, teaching techniques, safety,  top roping and belay in the gym, auto belays, liability issues, memberships, handling payments, shoe rentals, dealing with customer conflicts, kids in the gym and much more. We will show you how to set up a portable rock wall including site considerations and crowd management. We will explore how to use a portable rock wall as both a recreational and an element in an experiential program.  You will learn techniques to help both the new climbers and tricks to challenge the advanced climber.

Certificate Training:
  • Portable Rock Wall: Set-up, take down, risk management and operations
  • Operations: Gym opening, closing, organization, belay testing, groups, and booking
  • Administration: Staffing, supervision, customer service, training, clerical, and working with money
  • Advanced:  Route setting, preventing injury, teaching classes, coaching, and advanced climbing
Post Training:
  • Organize and lead a Staff Meeting
  • Organize and lead a Member Appreciate Event
  • Support 2 Birthday Parties or Special Events
  • Help Teach Bouldering 101 and Belaying 101
*To be Certified by North Coast Adventure Centers you must complete the prerequisites, certificate, and post training components.
